Nigeria to begin electricity trading with neighbouring countries

It has been revealed from Distribution Companies (DISCOs) in the energy sector, that Nigeria will begin to trade power with other west African countries from mid-2018. This is in a bid to set in motion plans to re-generate the regional electricity market. The current power generation in Nigeria is around 7000MW.
By trading power with countries such as Ghana and Cote D’Ivoire, this enables the nation to improve the epileptic electricity supply hat has plagued the nation for decades and resuscitate the electricity transmission network across the country.
Electricity trading in Nigeria is set to boost the economy and create jobs for the populace.
